Tourism information:

Borobudur temple

Borobudur, also known as Barabudur, is a 9th-century Mahayana Buddhist temple in Magelang Regency in Central Java, Indonesia, near the town of Muntilan. It is the largest Buddhist temple in the world. The temple is made up of nine square and circular platforms that are placed on top of one another and are crowned by a central dome. There are 2,672 relief panels and 504 Buddha sculptures in total. The center dome is encircled by 72 Buddha sculptures, each of which is situated within a perforated stupa.

Prambanan temple

It is Indonesia’s largest Hindu temple complex and the second largest in Southeast Asia after Angkor Wat. It is notable for its tall and pointed architecture, which is typical of Hindu architecture, as well as the central structure, which stands 47 meters (154 feet) tall within a vast complex of individual temples. Prambanan temple compounds originally included 240 temple structures that represent the magnificence of ancient Java’s Hindu art and architecture and are regarded as a masterpiece of Indonesia’s classical period.

Mount Bromo

Bromo is an active volcano in East Java, Indonesia, located in the Tengger Mountains. It is not the highest summit in the massif, standing at 2,329 meters (7,641 feet), but it is the most well-known. The area is one of East Java’s most famous tourist sites, and the volcano is part of the Bromo Tengger Semeru National Park. Bromo is a Javanese pronunciation of Brahma, the Hindu god of creation. Mount Bromo is located in the “Sea of Sand” environmental reserve, Mount Bromo has erupted several times, the most recent in 2010.

Ijen crater

The Ijen volcano, located west of Gunung Merapi, has a turquoise-colored acidic crater lake one kilometer (0.62 miles) wide. The lake is the site of a labor-intensive sulfur mining operation, in which sulfur-laden baskets are carried from the crater floor by hand. The work is well compensated in comparison to the cost of living in the area, but it is physically demanding. Workers earn about US$13 per day and must transport sulfur chunks three kilometers to the nearby Paluding Valley to be compensated.
